DAY HIKE TO THE FOOT OF MOUNT MERU
Trip Overview
Mount Meru is the second-highest mountain in Tanzania and third-highest free-standing mountain in Africa. The mountain is found within Arusha National Park, next to the famous Mount Kilimanjaro. Hiking the mountain will give you a chance to view animals like black and white colobus monkeys, giraffes, zebra, and buffalos in closer range. The mountain is a beautiful, sleeping volcano with fertile slopes and has a height of 4,566 meters.
Also, this tour will give you the opportunity to visit a number of local villages, a Maasai village, and waterfalls.
0800hrs: After your breakfast, your guide will come to pick you up from your accommodation, either Arusha or Moshi. Drive to the Arusha National Park main entrance gate which is a 45minutes drive from Arusha town and a 90minutes drive from Moshi.
The hike starts at approximately 0930 am. You will follow the trails and observe animals and nature while be listening to some thrilling legendary stories about Meru mountain from your guide and be crossing some beautiful vast plains to the roots of the mountain.
After about 3 hours walk, you will stop for lunch in a relaxing environment before continuing for another short walk before reaching your final destination. After taking a few moments of relaxation at the feel the mountain, you will start heading back to the gate ready to departure back.
